The Soviet Union and Stalinism in the Ideological Debates of American Trotskyism (1937-51)
Mordecai Donald Bubis
This dissertation presents the evolution of Trotskyist and neo-Trotskyist analyses of the Soviet Union and Stalinism in the period from 1928 through late to the late forties. The study explores the relationship between Trotsky's pioneering writings on Stalinism and later extensions and revisions of his work. The study is focussed upon the theoretical and political debates and discussions that ocurred within the American Trotskyist movement, the most representative and significant national section of the international Trotskyist movement during this period.
